Thanks for your interest in Mornings Across America.
You can find a list of minimum technical requirements here.
Important – Send Your Qualifications:
Please provide a paragraph about yourself to use in promoting the show and in introductions. Be creative, but be sure to include useful info like name, market, name of podcast/website, email, social handles, last station you worked for. Sandy will use these while introducing you and in graphics. Please send this ASAP. Like right now.
This is not an interview. It’s a show and you will be a key performer. It’s a chance to “audition” for a new gig, expand your experience, and develop skills. Plus, it’s a lot of fun.
Each show is 20-30 minutes and is recorded for both video and audio distribution. It’s hosted by Sandy McIlree, creator and lead personality on The Sandy Show, a syndicated radio show heard on radio stations across America. Each show features 2-3 cohosts.
Who gets on the show?
We are looking for talented personalities that will make a great radio show. We don’t guarantee that every applicant will be chosen. Talent for each show will be paired to create a great-sounding show.
Each show is quite different than the others because the personalities are different. However, there is a structure for each show. Sandy will open and close each break. There will be 3-5 segments in each show, ranging from 4 to 8 minutes long.
The show is recorded on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm Eastern / 1:30 pm Pacific. You will be expected to be available for at least 30 minutes before showtime to check equipment, prep and to get to know cohosts.
The show steams on twitch.tv/morningsacrossamerica at 1pm on Thursdays. It is then available on demand shortly after on the Twitch page and at MorningsAcrossAmerica.com.
Yes. There is a pre-show meeting:
Plan on a short (30 – 60 minute) meeting before we go on the air. It is a chance to meet your cohosts and review the show. We will also test and troubleshoot technical issues. The goal of the show is to be organic, but tight. Nothing kills organic faster than long meetings, so it will be short.
We match personality skills and experience levels for each show, based on information gathered in the application. If you would like to perform with a specific cohost, let us know and we’ll try to accommodate the request. However, we cannot guarantee you will perform with the personalities you choose.
Mornings Across America Radio:
The show will air on-demand on our website, and be distributed on other platforms as well.
We reserve the right to edit all shows and segments as needed. Our goal is to limit editing as much as possible and present as much of the actual performance as we can. However at the same time we want to make sure the show will attract audience and fans.
Each personality is expected to contribute content ideas at least 2 days before recording. Sandy will organize the ideas for the team meeting before recording, and make the final decision on which segments will be performed.
What Type of Content:
The best contact will come from stories, observations, and experiences from your life. This is an opportunity to show off who you are and what you’re all about, so stay away from generic lists and human interest stories unless you have a strong point of you about it and can demonstrate your character and personality through it. Be provocative. By that, I mean finding an angle that will cause the audience to respond. Think about what types of content will get a strong response from your cohosts. Look for things that start conversations. For example, the other day I was leaving work and a woman walked out of the lady’s room with her skirt stuck in her panties. I saw her entire left cheek. Do I say something to her or act like I didn’t see anything?
Things to stay away from:
Former Station, Company, or Personal Bashing. It is not a good look for you. And the audience really doesn’t care. However, if you have a story about something that happened to you while you were at a job, bring it!
What to Wear:
Whatever you think makes you look good. This show will exist in video and audio formats in archives accessible to the public.
